Erkko trophy
Erkko Trophy, one of the milestones of the domestic competitive golf season for amateurs, is played annually at Helsinki Golf Club. The competition is one of the oldest and most important amateur golf tournaments in Europe, with its roots dating back to the post-World War II years in Tali, Helsinki’s oldest golf course. The competition was first played in 1946 as an open 72-hole tournament called the Broman Cup. In 1966, the competition’s new rotating trophy was named Erkko Trophy after the club’s longtime patron Eljas Erkko. In the 1980s, the Finnish Golf Association awarded the competition the status of the Finnish Amateur Championship.
Over the years, Erkko Trophy has hosted several international top names and even Ryder Cup players. Since 1984, a separate invitation tournament has also been played alongside the competition, with top amateurs serving as team leaders with partners and other stakeholders. The popular Am-Am event is still held annually before the actual competition.
The 60th Erkko Trophy will once again take place at the well-prepared Tali course. You are more than welcome to watch the competition and support the young top amateurs in one of their toughest competitions from August 5th to 7th at Tali.
Welcome to watch Erkko
We welcome the public to Tali to experience top-level golf up close. You can follow the players on all three days of the competition (tee times from 7:30 a.m.), and the restaurant is open from morning to evening (8 a.m.–10 p.m.). You can watch the players you wish for the entire round or choose a good viewing spot, for example, at Piccadilly, the par-3 holes, or even from the club terrace.
Note! The audience moves and follows the competition only on the paths and rough areas. Movement on the fairways is not allowed during play.
Competition Week Schedule
Note! During the Erkko Trophy and Am-Am (August 5–8), the course is closed to other players. Tee times will be released on Tuesday after the Am-Am ends and on Friday after the competition ends, provided that competitors can leave the course on time. Tee lists for the competition rounds will be published in the official results service of the Golf Federation, which you can find a link to on this page.
